The following useful hints will help you keep your windows looking their best:

accumulation of atmospheric grime and pollution makes it necessary to clean the surface of PVCu regularly to maintain its smart appearance. In badly polluted industrial, marine or large city locations it is recommended that cleaning is carried out at least once every six months. For a normal atmospheric grime use detergent and warm water and apply to PVCu finishes with soft cloth or sponge. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS.

Providing this routine is followed it should not be necessary to use cleaners which are more aggressive than non alkaline detergents in warm water, in concentrations which can be handled with bare hands. After application, these cleaners should be removed with clean water and the area wiped dry.

It is quite wrong to assume that if cleaning is carried out less frequently than recommended the surface of the PVCu can be restored with the occasional use of more aggressive cleaners.

Such cleaners could damage the finish, the PVCu, the glazing and sealing systems and even the glass.

Such practices should be avoided at all costs.

All moving parts, such as hinges, locks and stays, should be kept freely moving by treating them with a few drops of thin oil e.g. 3-in-1 every six months. Stubborn parts can be freed with a penetrating oil such as WD40.

Failure to follow the lubrication guidelines could invalidate your guarantee on window and door furniture.
